From time to time I don't get as far into America's history as I would like so as a "timewarp" lesson starter I will show the students Forrest Gump and then we do some research answering Big Questions about the time periods referred to in the movie. I really like the Vietnam part of the film and the student usually like disecting the music trying to do what this lesson aimed to do. They do a good job with this song given the fact it is not their era, nor were the politics theirs as well, but many of the students see similarities between that time and today. Plus it just has a rockin' intro that catches the student's attention.

Thsi video really showed the tru feeling of the period. Vietnam is one of teh most overlooked periods in time and this video shows just how important of a period to study.
